On January 5th, 2024, Professor Frank van Harmelen visited National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NSLC). He presented a talk entitled "Artificial Intelligence Needs Learning and Reasoning". More than 150 faculty, Ph.D and master students from local universities and institutions participated in the lecture.
After the lecture, the participants engaged in an active discussion on the challenges and opportunities that artificial intelligence brings to data science, as well as how to make AI useful for scientific researchers.
Frank van Harmelen is a Professor of the Department of Computer Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Fellow of ECCAI, Member of the European Academy of Sciences, and Member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences. He is also an editorial board member of the Data Intelligence Journal.
