The Branch of Special Libraries, Library Society of China (CSLA) was founded in June 1979. It is a national and commonweal academic community which is an indispensable part of the Library Society of China. The members are from special libraries and related information service institution.

CSLA is administrated and operated under the leadership of National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The institutional members are 280, which comes from the libraries and information service centers of national bureaus, and research institutes. The members constitute a wonderful group with library and information science scholars and researchers with different major background.

The steering committee has the authority to advise and manage the daily affairs of CSLA. There are 8 sections, including academic research, library cooperation, education and training, organization affairs, editing and publication, young librarians’ cultivation, South China area librarianship affairs. The main tasks are organizing scholarly communication, education and training, etc.
